A group of the 252 Venezuelans sent by the United States to a maximum-security prison in El Salvador requested this Friday guarantees to attend a hearing ordered by a federal judge in the North American nation, after determining that the Government of President Donald Trump denied due process to these migrants who are now at liberty. "We demand that the authorities of that country genuinely create the conditions that allow us to participate in the hearing without again putting our integrity and our lives at risk," stated, in a letter, the group of migrants who were repatriated to their country on July 18th after four months of detention in the Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT) of El Salvador. Furthermore, they demanded that the United States guarantee "dignified and appropriate" return conditions and that these events not be repeated, therefore urging a review of deportation and reception protocols.

"We hope that this resolution by the US judge marks the beginning of a fair and humane solution to our situation and sets a precedent for the protection of the millions of migrants," added the group in the letter read to the press by a repatriated person who was not identified. Norberto Aguilar, one of the migrants deported to El Salvador last March, reported during the press conference that he had been beaten at the CECOT. For his part, Arturo Suárez maintained that the Nicolás Maduro government has provided help with psychological therapies but that it has not been easy to reintegrate into society because, he said, "physical blows heal but mental ones do not."
