Government announces expansion of public training programs

Santo Domingo.– The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, along with the Minister of Public Administration, Sigmund Freund, announced the expansion of training programs for public servants after a meeting with the new Academic Council of the institution and with a Presidential Support Commission.

During the meeting at the National Institute of Public Administration (INAP), the president reiterated that the INAP is a key piece for the fulfillment of the Government Plan, the National Development Strategy and the reform and modernization processes of the State, highlighting that any structural change must be accompanied by a solid educational process. In that sense, he gave instructions to improve academic plans, strengthen the formative accompaniment to institutional reforms and promote a change of behavior in public servants based on education, ethics and integrity. Among the main agreements announced is the strengthening of the INAP's virtual educational platform, with the aim of expanding the scope of training to a greater number of public servants throughout the country, as well as the incorporation of new academic content linked to innovation, digital skills, public ethics and integrity in the exercise of the state function. One of the most relevant announcements was the upcoming graduation of 368 public servants who are pursuing a master's degree in Public Management and Governance, funded by the Government through INAP and executed by the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), an event that will be formally announced in the coming days. Likewise, President Abinader instructed the opening of new cohorts of this postgraduate program, with the goal of impacting 500 public employees, especially from the legal area. The authorities highlighted that the INAP's Academic Council has a diverse composition, made up of government representatives, academics, public and private universities, the Dominican Association of University Rectors, teachers, and independent experts, which strengthens the plural and technical vision of the institution.

The director of INAP, Gregorio Montero Montero highlighted that the training of public servants is essential to consolidate democratic institutions, improve the efficiency of the State and guarantee higher quality public services, underlining that without education or the application of new technologies, a true transformation of public administration is not possible. With this meeting, the Government ratifies its commitment to the institutional strengthening of INAP, consolidating it as the strategic training arm of the Dominican State to guarantee trained, ethical public servants committed to the well-being of citizens and the fulfillment of fundamental rights.
