Vehicle sales in Venezuela grew by 119.9% in 2025, according to the sector

Caracas.- In Venezuela 38,610 new vehicles were sold last year, an increase of 119.9% compared to 2024, when 17,558 were sold, the sector reported this Tuesday, which predicts a growth of over 29% for 2026, with more than 50,000 units.

From the total sold last year, 41% -16,030 vehicles- were assembled in the country, the rest imported, according to the Automotive Chamber of Venezuela (Cavenez).

Last January, sales, which were 3,463 vehicles, increased by 158% compared to the same month last year, when 1,341 new cars were put into circulation, said the executive president of Cavenez, Eduardo Cáceres, in a press conference. He pointed out that the 19 brands that are part of Cavenez, including Korean, Japanese, Chinese, American and European ones, market more than 200 models in the Venezuelan market, from compact vehicles to heavy cargo, which the organization also believes will increase "significantly" with launches planned for this year. "Real consumption has accelerated, we are in a very favorable, very optimistic situation," said the representative of a sector that sold more than half a million vehicles in 2007. Cáceres stated that Venezuela is currently experiencing a "transformation process" which, in his opinion, "obligatorily requires that the automotive sector be seen as one of the thermometers of economic growth." "It is essential to ensure that mobility is a right and a tool for development, which is why we believe that incentivizing the growth of the sector will allow us to guarantee the physical infrastructure that supports the progress of other economic factors," he explained. The head of Cavenez, who assured that they have been in contact with the State for the review of administrative processes, called on the public, financial, industrial and commercial sectors to establish working groups in order, he added, to generate "more favorable conditions for all". The situation in Venezuela changed after the capture last month of Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, by the United States, after which the then-vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, assumed the position of acting president and has held talks with Washington, which reopened its diplomatic mission in the South American country after being closed for seven years.
