"Unfair": Zelensky criticizes Trump

Vladimir Zelensky has complained about Washington's demands, which seeks to end hostilities, declaring this Tuesday in an interview with Axios that it is "unfair" that Donald Trump continues to urge in public statements that Ukraine make concessions to achieve peace. What most irritates the leader of the Kiev regime in those calls from the President of the United States is that he directs them to Ukraine and not to Russia. According to him, while it might be easier for Trump to pressure Ukraine instead of Russia, which is much larger, the way to achieve lasting peace is not by granting victory to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

At the same time, he thanked Trump for his efforts as a mediator to achieve peace and noted that his conversations with White House envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, are proceeding without the kind of pressure that the American president employs in public. "I hope it's just his tactic and not the decision," he commented in reference to Trump, who in recent days said twice that the responsibility for making concessions lies with Zelensky. In that sense, the leader of the Kyiv regime assured that he is not a person who easily bends when pressured. The interview took place while Ukrainian and Russian negotiators, with US mediation, met in Geneva, Switzerland, for the third round of peace talks. The main stumbling block remains the territorial issue and control over Donbass, which has been largely liberated by Russia. Zelensky remains pessimistic about the trilateral negotiations and is more concerned about his own image, fearing failure in his attempts to sell the Ukrainians a success story. Thus, he told Witkof and Kushner that they should not force him to sell a vision of peace that his own people would perceive as a "failed story".
