Ricardo de los Santos, Lía Díaz and Brenda Ogando recognize Azua woman

Santo Domingo. – In the framework of the commemoration of International Women's Day, celebrated every March 8, the President of the Senate, Ricardo de los Santos, along with the senator for the province of Azua, Lía Díaz, and the congresswoman Brenda Ogando, led the presentation of a recognition to the outstanding Azuan Nelly Heredia, during an event held in the Senate of the Dominican Republic.

The distinction was awarded as part of a special tribute to 32 extraordinary women, representatives of the 31 provinces of the country and the National District, selected for their valuable contributions to the social, community, and economic development of the nation. In representation of the province of Azua, Nelly Heredia was recognized, a woman who has stood out for her leadership, social sensitivity, and firm commitment to the well-being of her community. Her career has left important marks in areas such as education, culture, entrepreneurship, and community service. This recognition is part of the third edition of the "Huellas de Futuro: Mujeres que Transforman" initiative, a space that honors Dominican women who, with their constant work, leadership, and vocation for service, contribute to the construction of a more just, supportive, and opportunity-filled society.

The authorities present highlighted that recognizing women like Nelly Heredia is also valuing the effort of thousands of Dominicans who, from different spaces, work tirelessly for the development of their communities and the strengthening of the country.
