The Dominican Republic celebrates National Cardiologist Day every April 16th, a date established through Law 334-12 with the aim of recognizing the invaluable work of professionals dedicated to the study, diagnosis, and treatment of heart diseases.
This commemoration coincides with the founding of the Dominican Society of Cardiology, created on April 16, 1962, an entity that brings together cardiovascular specialists in the country.
The main purpose of this date is to highlight the work of cardiologists, who play a fundamental role in the prevention and care of cardiovascular diseases, considered among the leading causes of death worldwide.
