U.S. says it has stopped ten vessels from or to Iran with the blockade in Hormuz

Miami.- The United States Central Command (Centcom) stated this Wednesday that it has prevented the passage of 10 ships with origin or destination in Iran after 48 hours of the blockade ordered by President Donald Trump in the Strait of Hormuz. The military organization, based in Florida, stated on X that the U.S. Armed Forces in the area, including 5,000 sailors from the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group, have caused 10 ships to turn around in the strait, where "zero ships have broken the blockade of U.S. since it began on Monday." The Centcom exemplified that a cargo ship flying the Iranian flag attempted to evade the blockade on Tuesday after leaving the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas, but the USS Spruance (DDG-111) missile destroyer "successfully redirected the vehicle" and forced it to return. «After implementing the blockade of ships entering and leaving Iranian ports, US forces have cut off economic trade going to and from Iran by sea. US Marines, sailors, and pilots remain positioned and ready to act against any vessel seeking to violate the blockade», he added.

Blocking the Strait of Hormuz, a Pressure Measure on Iran

Although the United States has blocked ships related to Iranian trade, at least three tankers crossed the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, the first full day of the US-imposed blockade against ships calling at Iranian ports, according to data from vessel monitoring platforms. The ships that have crossed the strait have departed from non-Iranian ports and the ships that the United States blocked left or were heading to Iranian ports. The President Trump has ordered the blockade to pressure Iran amid negotiations to end the war, which began on February 28. The Strait of Hormuz, through which a fifth of global crude oil passes, has become key to the conflict, as Iran has controlled transit through this maritime passage, which has raised global oil prices, which this Wednesday remains above 90 dollars per barrel.
