Amid the current global crisis, generated by the conflict in the Middle East, the concerns of the National Council of Private Enterprise (CONEP) do not revolve around the supply of raw materials, inputs, fuels, or energy, but rather the cost at which they can acquire these goods.
This is because the countries from which Dominican businesses import supplies or raw materials for the completion of their products do not depend on Middle Eastern countries, and can continue to supply them without problems to the Dominican Republic.
However, the cost at which these products are acquired, if it represents a problem, and is the concern of the entrepreneurs, as this directly affects the price of the final product.
"Despite the headwinds, our economic stability is an indispensable asset," CONEP made clear at a meeting with the economic press, where they presented their vision of the Dominican business sector in the face of the complex global and local situation.
In terms of energy, they highlighted that the national supply has strategic protection through future contracts, mitigating the impact of global volatility.
Furthermore, that approximately 100% of the generation inputs come from the USA, the region, and Europe, ensuring safe routes.
However, where there is a critical risk is in the transportation sector due to the potential impact on global logistics and operational costs.
In a meeting with journalists and opinion leaders, the president of CONEP, Celso J. Marranzini, called for constructive prudence and emphasized that the business sector "is prepared, with planning capacity, response, and a long-term vision to face scenarios of uncertainty."
