Washington.- The federal prosecutor in Washington shared this Thursday a video showing Cole Allen, the accused of attempting to assassinate the President of the United States, Donald Trump, during the White House Correspondents' Dinner last Saturday, shooting at a Secret Service agent before being arrested.
"Today, we are releasing the video already presented to the U.S. District Court showing Cole Allen shooting a U.S. Secret Service agent," said prosecutor Jeanine Pirro in a post accompanied by the images on her official X account. Pyrrhus added that "there is no evidence that the shooting was the result of friendly fire." The images shared by the prosecutor also show Allen the day before the attack prowling the area where the dinner was held.Who is Cole Allen?
Allen, a 31-year-old professor from California, appeared this Thursday at a hearing of about 15 minutes in which he informed the District of Columbia judge Moxila Upadhyaya that he renounces challenging his stay in prison, a precautionary measure requested by the prosecution. The defendant's lawyers asked the judge to modify Allen's prison conditions, who remains confined 24 hours a day in an isolation cell, a measure they consider disproportionate. The magistrate, however, responded that she lacks authority over this matter. We recommend reading: Trump signs bipartisan deal and ends partial shutdown of Homeland Security
Allen currently faces one charge of attempting to kill the president, a crime that can carry a life sentence, and two others related to the transportation and use of weapons, although the prosecution announced this Thursday that it plans to bring "many more" charges against him.
