Vargas extends his historic streak and bats above .400

Vargas wasted no time making his presence felt, connecting a single in his first at-bat of the game and then adding three more hits throughout the game, including one that drove in a run. In addition, he drew a walk in the ninth inning, finishing the day with a batting average of .404, the best in Major League Baseball. With this performance, the infielder reached his fourth four-hit game of his career and the third time he has reached base five times in the same game, confirming his extraordinary offensive moment. The 24-game hitting streak is the second-longest to start a season since 1940, surpassed only by Ron LeFlore's 30 games in 1976. If the games from last season are added, Vargas has a 27-game hitting streak, the longest active streak in Major League Baseball. The Venezuelan also surpassed the previous record of 26 consecutive games for a player from his country, a mark that belonged to Wilson Ramos since 2019. Within the franchise's history, the streak of 24 games equals the second-longest in a single season for Arizona, tying with Tony Womack and only behind Luis González's 30 games. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo praised the player's performance and highlighted his constant effort to reach this level. "He earned this moment. Everything is the result of his work and dedication," said the pilot. Vargas, in his third stage with Arizona, is experiencing the best moment of his career in the Major Leagues, establishing himself as one of the most consistent figures at the start of this season.
