National Police and CONANI intervene after finding infant in Jarabacoa

Jarabacoa.– Agents of the National Police Investigations Division in Jarabacoa went to the Octavia Gautier de Vidal Municipal Hospital, after the discovery of an infant of weeks old born found in a state of abandonment in the place Paso Bajito, of this municipality. According to the preliminary report, the minor was located in an area known as "La Pocilga" and transferred to the health center by a unit of the National Emergency and Security Attention System 9-1-1, where she received medical assistance and was evaluated by health personnel, determining that she is in good health.

The case was immediately reported to the National Council for Children and Adolescents (CONANI), as well as to the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Children and Adolescents, who activated the corresponding protection protocols. Subsequently, the infant was formally handed over to CONANI representatives for the legal and administrative purposes, while the National Police keeps the investigation open to identify and bring to justice those responsible for this act.
