José Horacio qualifies the 4-day paternity leave as "a very Pyrrhic advance"

Santo Domingo.- Former deputy and president of the Democratic Option (OD) party, José Horacio Rodríguez, described the approval of 4-day paternity leave as a very Pyrrhic advance. “This is a very Pyrrhic advance and of questionable constitutionality”, expressed the former legislator through his social media. José Horacio lamented that it is only 4 days of paternity leave while in the public sector it is 15 days. And he recalled that in the past the Chamber of Deputies had already approved on two occasions, in two readings, 10 working days of paternity leave; a project that he promoted while he was in Congress, but after its approval in the Lower House, the Senate shelved the piece and it never became law, however today they celebrate how an achievement is only 4 days.

“It is noticeable that there are very few legislators in the current Congress who advocate for the rights of working families”, he criticized. “This is why in Opción Democrática we say that we want to bring Good Politics to Congress: Good Politics = More Rights.
