They demand justice for the death of Miguel Ángel Marine in Jarabacoa: "The case cannot go unpunished"

Jarabacoa. – Citizens and representatives of a company that knew Miguel Ángel Marine closely requested that the Dominican authorities clarify the circumstances surrounding the death of the young man, which allegedly occurred during a police intervention in the community of Pedregal, in this municipality. Through a public statement addressed to the authorities, media, and national public opinion, the signatories expressed their concern about the case and demanded a transparent investigation to determine responsibilities. In the document, they demanded the full clarification of the facts, the identification of the agents involved, and the carrying out of an objective and independent investigation that guarantees the truth about what happened. They also requested that Miguel Ángel Marine's name be formally and publicly cleared, while asking for respect for his memory and dignity. The signatories also demanded that the State assume the corresponding responsibilities and guarantee comprehensive accompaniment and reparation to the young man's family.

“The case cannot go unpunished nor be repeated ever in the Dominican Republic”, they expressed in the statement, in which they reiterated their call for institutions to act with transparency and adherence to the law. Finally, they expressed their solidarity with the family of Miguel Ángel Marine and assured that they will continue to accompany them in the search for justice and the clarification of the facts. The young man's death has generated concern in different sectors of Jarabacoa, who hope that the authorities will offer clear answers about what happened and determine the corresponding responsibilities.
