The initiative seeks to ensure a universal integration of patients' medical records

Santo Domingo. – The National Health Service (SNS) and the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (INDOTEL) continue to strengthen the interconnectivity project that seeks to integrate 100% of the entire Public Health Network of the country, covering first, second and third level centers, as well as regional and provincial hospitals. The initiative aims to guarantee a universal integration of patients' medical records, allowing for more efficient, secure, and continuous management of medical information in all public health centers in the country. The director of the SNS, doctor Julio Landrón, and the president of INDOTEL, Guido Gómez Mazara, held the third workshop with their teams to follow up on the progress of the project. During the meeting, the authorities also discussed the integration of Health Risk Administrators (ARS) and other government platforms linked to the health sector, with the purpose of consolidating a single and interconnected digital system. The authorities explained that the plan seeks to eliminate the fragmentation of current systems and establish a centralized platform for the entire public hospital network.

What is being attempted is to connect everything and have a single program in the health centers, where everything is governed by that same interconnection and that there is no need to even have physical documentation”, they explained. They also indicated that, by using the identity card, an access code, and the patient's authorization, doctors will be able to immediately access the medical history, referrals, studies, and laboratory results previously performed in any center of the Public Health Network. With this initiative, the SNS and INDOTEL seek to optimize medical processes, avoid duplication of clinical studies, and improve the quality of care offered to citizens throughout the national territory.
