Santo Domingo.- The deputy of the 2nd Overseas Constituency, Adelys Olivares, called to protect and value the rights of migrants, when participating in a commemorative act of the International Migrants Day, celebrated on December 18th.
In her capacity as a deputy of Ultramar, she reaffirmed her commitment to promote laws that guarantee dignity, respect, and integration for the diaspora and for those who have chosen the country as their second home. The congresswoman recalled that the Dominican Republic has historically been a country marked by migration and emphasized that migrants should not be seen as a problem, but as a force that drives economic, social and cultural development. Olivares concluded by urging to build policies based on coexistence and brotherhood, stating that the solution to migration is not in building walls, but in building bridges.
