DGM and security forces maintain interdiction operations in the country

Santo Domingo.- The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) reported that, as a result of immigration control operations, yesterday it apprehended 573 undocumented Haitian nationals in different parts of the national territory. In parallel, the deportation of 458 people was carried out. The actions were coordinated with public security forces and were part of sustained efforts to ensure control, security, and compliance with national laws and international regulations regarding migration.

The arrests were carried out in urban areas where the DGM's intelligence agencies have detected migratory mobility, such as Santo Domingo, where 247 foreigners in an irregular situation were captured; Dajabón, 60; Azua, 28; Santiago, 22; Mao, 20, and 7 in Elías Piña. In addition to them, there are 158 detainees by the Army, 19 by Cesfront and 12 by the National Police, in a collaborative exercise in which the Ministry of Defense, the Navy, Air Force, Ciutran and Digesett, among other institutions, also participated. Those repatriated for lacking valid documentation proving their regular stay in the country were 296, through the Dajabón border crossing; 108, through Elías Piña; 44 through Pedernales and 10 through Jimaní. They were handed over to the authorities of their country after the corresponding administrative procedures were completed, as well as safety, transportation and health supervision regulations, minimizing risks and guaranteeing the physical integrity of the returned persons.
