Santo Domingo. – The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, reported this Monday that the country was elevated to Category 2 in the annual report of the United States Department of State on human trafficking.
“I want to give a scoop because the United States report on human trafficking has just been released half an hour ago, where they raise our category, as they call it, they give us an upgrade to point 2 for the work and the effectiveness we have had in the coordination between both countries in the last year,” declared the president during his meeting with the press at La Semanal. You may be interested in: http://Abinader reitera ante caso Senasa no tolerará la impunidad “aunque provenga del mismo gobierno”
The rise in the ranking reflects the Dominican government's efforts to combat human trafficking through inter-institutional coordination and cooperation with international organizations, highlighting progress in the prevention, protection, and prosecution of this crime. The Category 2 implies that, while challenges still exist, the country meets the minimum standards established by the United States in the fight against human trafficking and has shown significant progress in the last year.
