Santo Domingo.- The new traffic measures that prohibit left turns on a large number of avenues in the capital as part of the "RD se mueve" initiative, were designed by a Brazilian company named Imtraff, which, according to journalist Hansel García, was hired without any bidding process. "What I want the Government to explain to the country is under what parameters this company was hired. Because I was looking and I didn't find a tender, I didn't find an announcement. I had to dig a lot to know that this was a subcontracted company for this plan," said García. The journalist stated on the program Esto No es Radio that the National Institute of Transit and Terrestrial Transportation (Intrant) has trained technicians and advisors capable of designing and implementing transportation policies, so it was not necessary to hire an external company for such purposes.

"The Government has to explain that to this country," said Hansel García.
"RD Se Mueve" is a strategy of the Dominican government, supported by a study by the company Imtraff, to improve mobility in Santo Domingo and reduce traffic problems. According to the study, Imtraff, as a consultant, analyzed 120 intersections, 123 traffic light crossings, 30 vehicle capacity points, and conducted 220 hours of traffic recording and more than 3000 origin and destination surveys. The strategy, launched by the Government, seeks to optimize vehicular flow through measures such as the restriction of left turns and adjustments to the working hours of the public sector.
