Santo Domingo. - President
Luis Abinader announced the allocation of RD$4,000 million pesos for the construction of sidewalks and curbs in both municipalities and municipal districts throughout the national territory.

The president reported that the first transfer of RD$2,000 million will be made next week and that the remaining funds will be available as the projects are executed and the established requirements are met.
"If that execution is correct and of quality, do not hesitate that we will continue to bet," said the president after the announcement.
The Head of State also announced that work is underway to improve the solid waste trust, with the aim of further strengthening the investment capacity of local governments, always respecting the Constitution and the laws.
Evaluate additional funds for other priority works
During the meeting, President Abinader said he will evaluate the possibility of allocating new funds for municipal works of high social impact, such as funeral homes, cemeteries, markets, and slaughterhouses, which could be announced in November, at the next meeting with local authorities.
He also referred to the national paving plan, indicating that the Ministry of Public Works will launch a large-scale tender starting in October, whose works will also be coordinated with the municipalities.
Abinader urged the mayors to execute quickly, but complying with legal processes.
The distribution should be done equitably, fairly and proportionally to the population, as in previous experiences, according to the president.
This plan will continue the sidewalk and curb construction component already implemented in the 2022-2024 period within the framework of the Program to Support Local Governments, with a budget of 3.2 billion pesos, and which impacted the entire national territory with 1,691,251 linear meters of sidewalks and curbs that improved pedestrian mobility conditions for more than 200,000 direct beneficiaries and almost 5 million indirect beneficiaries.
On his side, the president of the LMD, Víctor D'Aza, explained that the resources of this National Plan for the Improvement of Pedestrian Infrastructure will be distributed under criteria that guarantee territorial equity in such a way that they will be assigned to each territory according to three items of 33.33% each, in which the first item will be distributed to all local governments.
A second installment of 33.33% will be applied based on the population criterion, which will be added to the first installment, and the third part of 33.33% will obey community and high-need demands. He clarified that, in the case of the National District, the Presidency of the Republic has arranged a particular plan, so it will not be taken into account in this budget.
It is highlighted that this announcement adds to a series of high-impact actions that the Executive Branch has promoted through the Dominican Municipal League under the presidency of Víctor D'Aza, among which are: an extensive asphalt program for urban roads that has improved the streets and avenues in dozens of municipalities as well as the strengthening of the infrastructure to support the provision of municipal services such as markets, slaughterhouses, cemeteries and funeral homes.
Also, the president of the Dominican Federation of Municipalities (Fedomu) and mayor of Samaná, Nelson Núñez, expressed his gratitude to President Abinader for the continuous support for the improvement of municipal services and his policy of bringing the State closer to the people.
President Abinader was accompanied by the Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, and the president of the Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM), Lionsito José Sencilie.
