Some showers are expected in the afternoon
Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic Meteorology Institute (Indomet), reports that stable conditions are expected today due to the presence of a light layer of Saharan dust combined with an anticyclonic system at different levels of the troposphere that will be limiting the formation of significant clouds and the accumulation of important rainfall.
However, during the morning hours, there will be, slight occasional cloud cover with isolated and passing showers in provinces such as: La Altagracia, La Romana, Samaná and María Trinidad Sánchez. During the afternoon until nightfall, the interaction of local effects (daytime heating and orographic) with the warm and humid east/southeast wind, will cause local showers and possible thunderstorms in towns of Hato Mayor, El Seibo, Monte Plata, Azua, La Vega, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, San Juan, Elías Piña, Independencia and Santo Domingo Norte.
Tomorrow, Friday, the influence of the anticyclonic system will maintain very favorable conditions for outdoor activities in a large part of the country. In the morning hours, a mostly clear and very sunny sky will reign. However, during the afternoon until the early hours of the night, due to local effects and the incidence of the prevailing east/southeast wind, some cloud increases are expected with local showers and isolated thunderstorms in provinces such as: Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Azua, La Vega, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, San Juan, Independencia and Elías Piña. At night, although the rainfall decreases, the presence of isolated showers in locations on the Caribbean coast, including Santo Domingo, is not ruled out.
The temperatures will be hot associated with the warm east/southeast wind and the weak layer of Saharan dust; we urge to drink water, avoid exposure to the sun without protection, seek cool, ventilated places with shade and wear light-colored clothing.
Saturday, from early morning and during the morning hours, cloud cover increases with isolated showers will occur in towns near the Caribbean coast and the northeastern portion of the country, while in the afternoon and early evening hours, cloud formations with local showers and isolated thunderstorms will be more noticeable in provinces such as: Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, La Vega, San Juan and Santiago. These weather conditions could extend towards coastal areas of the Caribbean Sea, at night, including Santo Domingo and its municipalities.
