Santo Domingo. – With the sun beating down harder this September than it has in days, it will be the hottest month of the year. Citizens consulted on the streets shared with laughter their strategies for surviving the heat that plagues the city.
The most popular was to drink plenty of fluids, because as they said, "if one doesn't hydrate, they evaporate like the breeze". Others claimed that the key is not to get angry, since stress raises the temperature faster than the sun itself.

“The best thing is to find some shade and stay calm, because nobody can stand the sun for even five minutes”, said with a laugh, Hipólito Gálvez from the Los Mameyes neighborhood, as he settled into a shadow.
Amid water bottles, fans, and Dominican ingenuity, people made it clear that the fight against the heat is not fought with complaints, but with good humor… and plenty of shade.
