BHD receives recognition for boosting the female economy

Santo Domingo.- The BHD Bank was recognized by the Financial Alliance for Women with the Champion of Commitment award for its support of women in their different roles and social challenges, and its leadership in the female economy.

BHD was recognized by this international organization for providing invaluable experience as a speaker and mentor in the peer-to-peer learning programs of the Financial Alliance for Women during the last year. Steven Puig, president of Banco BHD, thanked the Alliance for this distinction that encourages the entity to continue working for the future of women.

Inez Murray, CEO of the Financial Alliance for Women, presented this recognition to Elizabeth Rojas, second vice president of Business Strategy for Women at Banco BHD, during the celebration of the Champion of Women's Economic Empowerment Award, held in Rwanda, East Africa.

Rojas highlighted that the Bank develops programs that support women through financial and non-financial solutions that are part of the Mujer BHD Gender Strategy.

This achievement adds to the one received in 2024, in which Banco BHD was recognized during the Annual Summit of the Financial Alliance for Women, as Commitment Champion, one of the categories that make up the aforementioned award. BHD is the only Dominican financial entity member of this alliance and the only one that has been awarded twice in this category.

In 2023, BHD was also highlighted by the Alliance as a Change Maker Champion and its president, Steven Puig, was awarded as an Outstanding Contributor for his personal commitment to supporting the women's economy. The winning institutions in 2025 come from Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. These institutions have done outstanding work to meet the financial needs of women entrepreneurs, professionals, and heads of households. The Financial Alliance for Women is a global network of financial organizations committed to advancing the female economy, considered the largest and fastest-growing emerging market. Member entities of this network, present in more than 135 countries, share the goal of maximizing the economic potential of women.
