Santo Domingo.- The renowned rapper and performer of Dominican urban music, José Luis Peralta, better known as Shelow Shaq, who is one of the cornerstones of the Dominican urban genre, is experiencing a resurgence in his musical career after achieving the rapid success of his most recent musical theme “Ta de pinga”.
The contagious song managed to reach #1 on different streaming platforms in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico and #4 in the United States, reaching over 3.9 million views on its official YouTube channel in just 6 days, in addition to some 80,000 videos on the social network Tik Tok, this musical hit being, in its own words, "a gift from God".

“Thank God because this was something from Him, I see this issue as a gift from God. I knew that song was going to be a hit, I knew it but not like this, I thought it was going to start playing or I would force it, working on it but this was something impressive, I am surprised,” Shelow told DUM.
But the success of the musical piece goes beyond the humorous tone of its lyrics, the show business themes, and the catchy dembow rhythm as the main base; the impact of the song, beyond its popularity, is due to the account of events that have marked the Dominican Republic.
“Ta de Pinga”, is a dembow with a social focus fused with Dominican slang, which has surprisingly connected with urban music fans.
As a way of venting, Shelow Shaq used his art to criticize and expose both the actions and omissions of the Dominican government and other social problems that have shaken Dominican society in recent months.
The song mentions issues such as the march against Haitian migration in Friusa, the loans approved in the National Congress, the increase in remittances, corruption scandals, the seizure of loudspeakers carried out by the Ministry of Interior, headed by Faride Raful, and the tragedy at the Jet Set nightclub.
Referring to the tragic dawn of April 8th and the collapse of the Jet Set nightclub roof, Shelow expressed his concern and discontent with the authorities' actions in the case, assuring that if it were someone without a last name or power, the story would be different.
“Sometimes justice just wants to sink the poor and that is not right, justice has to be for everyone, I know that no one was to blame for that, for what happened, but at least ‘bring him to trial’, if it had been in a nightclub in a neighborhood the story would be different, that is why we have to have justice, although God is up there watching everything, there are many people who escape things but not God”, he added.
In conversation with De último Minuto Shelow assured that “Ta de pinga”, has come as a blessing to his life since he already has around 14 confirmed performances for the remainder of the month of May, in addition to the fact that he is already preparing a successful tour of the United States, this being the springboard for great steps and opportunities for his ascending musical career.
Furthermore, he shared that he is in talks with El Alfa El Jefe's team in negotiations to be part of his farewell tour "El Último Baile", assuring that nothing is certain yet but that arrangements are being made.
Creative process of the song
In an interview with Lady Álvarez on De Último Minuto, Shelow shared that the composition, recording of the song, and even the filming of the music video for “Ta de pinga”, was something that developed in a period of three days.
He mentioned that he took a day to compose, a day to record, and a day to shoot the official video, releasing it on the fourth day, which was a great surprise for him, as the song became popular without even exhausting the work process required for a musical release.
