New York. – The Consul General of the Dominican Republic in New York, Jesús “Chu” Vásquez, held a meeting with the Democratic candidate for Mayor of the city, Zohran Mamdani, in a meeting that reaffirms the common interest of strengthening ties between the Dominican community and local authorities.
During the meeting, both parties discussed initiatives focused on improving political representation, social integration, and economic opportunities for the Dominican diaspora, considered one of the most influential in the metropolis.

Mamdani, who won the Democratic Party primary elections on June 26, expressed his commitment to providing effective representation to Dominicans. "One in eight New Yorkers is Dominican, and that will be reflected in my management," said the mayoral candidate. The Dominican assemblywoman Amanda Séptimo and businessman Junior Martínez also participated in the meeting, who highlighted the relevance of future municipal leaderships including the Dominican community in the decisions that impact their development. The meeting was described as a positive step towards stronger cooperation between the Dominican consulate and political actors in New York City, for the benefit of a community that continues to grow and contribute significantly to the social and economic life of the city.
