Nice (France), June 9 (EFE).- The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced this Monday during the Oceans Summit held in Nice that the European Union (EU) will invest one billion euros for the conservation and research of the oceans through 50 projects worldwide.

“We want to build a strong global alliance for the ocean, because the fight to promote and protect our ocean is a global challenge,” said the head of the European Executive, who added that “there is a funding deficit to support ocean conservation, science, and sustainable fishing.”

"That's why I am pleased to announce today that Europe will invest 1 billion euros in 50 projects around the world," announced Von der Leyen.
