The former president of Argentina, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, spoke this Wednesday to a crowd that gathered in the Plaza de Mayo, in Buenos Aires, to repudiate her controversial sentence of six years in prison for a corruption case.

"We are going to return. The people always return", said the former president in a recorded message that was broadcast to the thousands of Peronist militants who came from all over the country to demonstrate against the "proscription" of their leader.

Cristina Fernández began on Tuesday to serve her sentence under house arrest, in her apartment in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Constitución. There they gather every day, since the Supreme Court confirmed the sentence, to support the political leader. "They can imprison me, but they will not be able to imprison all the Argentine people," said the former president.
