Sports writing (EFE).- British driver George Russell (Mercedes) won the Canadian Grand Prix this Sunday, the tenth race of the Formula One World Championship, which was held at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Montreal.
The Spanish double world champion Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) achieved his best result of the season, finishing seventh; and his compatriot Carlos Sainz (Williams) signed the comeback of the day to advance six positions and finish tenth in a race that the Argentinian Franco Colapinto (Alpine) concluded thirteenth. Piastri reinforced his Formula One lead in Montreal and now commands with 198 points, 22 more than Norris; and with 43 over Verstappen. The two Ferraris, that of Monegasque Charles Leclerc and that of the seven-time English world champion Lewis Hamilton, finished fifth and sixth, just ahead of Alonso. German Nico Hülkenberg (Kick Sauber) was eighth, ahead of Frenchman Esteban Ocon (Haas). The next Grand Prix, the Austrian one, will be held on June 29th at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Styria.

Russell, 27, who started from the 'pole', achieved his fourth victory in F1, the first of the year, by finishing ahead of the four-time Dutch world champion Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and the other Mercedes, that of the young Italian debutant Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who, at 18 years old, achieved his first podium in the premier category.
