The World Law Congress 2025 Addresses the Transformative Role of Artificial Intelligence in Access to Justice
Santo Domingo.- In the framework of the World Law Congress 2025, a distinguished panel coordinated by Teodora Toma, executive director of the World Jurist Association and partner at the Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo law firm, analyzed the impact and opportunities offered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) to transform access to justice globally.
The session brought together international experts, including Chen Ruojian (China), Fotjona Race (Albania), Daniel Guío Díaz (Colombia), Pablo Yusta (Spain), Eliana Bejarano (Colombia-Spain) and Zoraima Cuello (Dominican Republic), former candidate for the vice presidency of the country. All agreed on the strategic importance of emerging technologies in judicial systems.
During her intervention, Zoraima Cuello highlighted that AI has the potential to make justice more accessible, efficient, and inclusive, especially for people in vulnerable situations. She mentioned technological advances that are being applied in different countries, from automated legal assistance systems to tools for the transcription and management of hearings, which allow for the immediate generation of records and support the work of prosecutors and judges with greater precision and transparency.
One of the key questions that arose during the debate was: what do we need to fully implement these tools? The panelists agreed that the main challenge is technology training and making proper use of it to strengthen the practice of law. They emphasized the need to strengthen technological skills in the legal field and called on academic institutions to incorporate these contents into their study plans, in order to prepare new generations of jurists for an increasingly digitized legal environment.

The panel offered a hopeful vision of the future of justice, driven by technological innovation, but also made a clear call to action: for technology to truly serve the Law, it is necessary to invest in education, ethics, and proper regulation.
In a call to action, experts encouraged organizations and judicial and legal firms to overcome fear and adopt these important technological platforms to optimize their operations and improve access to justice.
