The San Juan sprinter stopped the stopwatch at 20.16 seconds, enough to win in a close finish against American Robert Gregory (20.19) and Nigerian Udodi Onwukurike (20.29). Although it was not his best mark of the season, the victory had a special value: it secured him a spot in the grand final of the Diamond League, scheduled for August 28 in Zurich, Switzerland.
Ogando, a member of the historic 4x400 mixed relay team that won a world gold in Oregon 2022 and an Olympic silver in Tokyo 2020, once again demonstrated his ability to compete in the elite of individual athletics. With this triumph, he added 19 points in the general classification, placing fourth behind Joseph Fahnbulleh (Liberia, 29), Letsile Tebogo (Botswana, 23) and Courtney Lindsey (United States, 22).
