More than 100 students from the educational center participated in the activity, where they received bats, more than six dozen baseballs, catcher's equipment, basketballs, and other sporting goods aimed at strengthening athletic practice at the school. During the day, Major League players Framber Valdez, Wenceel Pérez and Thayron Liranzo shared with the students, motivating them to practice sports without neglecting their academic training. "School is very important, education is the main thing in your life before anything else. We studied first and then became professionals. So focus on your studies and be good young people," Valdez expressed to the children and teachers present. The activity also included the presence of the owner of the Detroit team, Christopher Ilitch, as well as other team executives. In representation of the national baseball commissioner, Junior Noboa, was the head of the Technical Directorate of the DCNB, Diógenes De la Cruz, who highlighted the importance of these types of initiatives to positively impact Dominican children. "For the National Baseball Commissioner's Office, it is an honor to be here with the Detroit organization, inspiring these children so they can fulfill their dreams. The perfect combination is to study and practice baseball, because if they don't make it to the Major Leagues tomorrow, they can be excellent professionals in any area," said De la Cruz. For their part, Pérez and Liranzo urged students to respect their parents and teachers as a fundamental basis for their personal and professional growth. The principal of the school, José Luis García, thanked the DCNB and the Detroit Tigers for bringing joy and support to the educational center. "We are very grateful for this donation and for the treat given to our students," he said. The initiative is part of the community activities developed within the framework of the Detroit ensemble's visit to the country, reaffirming organized baseball's commitment to the social and educational development of the Dominican Republic.
