Santo Domingo .– The preparation of the Dominican team for the 2026 World Baseball Classic will officially begin on February 28, when all the summoned players meet in Miami to start the training before the tournament, informed the general manager Nelson Cruz.

According to Cruz, March 1st will be dedicated to official practices, press sessions, photoshoots, and uniform adjustments. Subsequently, on March 2nd, the delegation will travel to the Dominican Republic to continue their preparation on home soil. The moment will mark a historic event for Dominican baseball, as it will be the first time in the 20-year history of the World Baseball Classic that the national team will play exhibition games in the country. "It's going to be something historic. Never before has the Dominican team come to play in the country in a World Baseball Classic," Cruz highlighted, who assured that both the players and the fans will live an unforgettable experience. The exhibition games against the Detroit Tigers, scheduled for March 3rd and 4th, will serve as the final part of the preparation before the team's official debut in the tournament, and will allow thousands of Dominican fans to see their national team in action at home for the first time.
