Santiago- The national team (Dom) closed the last card by registering three other fighters for the semifinals of the 45th National Independence Boxing Cup, which is being successfully held in the sports center of the CUPES club, in the Los Pepines sector, of this city.

Fredelin de los Santos (55 kg), Noel Pacheco (80 kg), and Jose Augusto Triset (+90 kg) secured victories to guarantee a spot in the semifinals. De los Santos defeated Jose Daniel Felipe Mejia (GUT) 5-0, Pacheco won with a 5-0 sweep against Jorge Marino Ocho (CUB) and Triset also achieved a unanimous 5-0 decision against Randy Manuel Peralta (Stgo). On that billboard, the Cuba and Santiago teams registered two fighters each, while Dom-B and Stgo-B, one per team. The Cuban, gold medalist in the last Olympic Games, Arislandy Alvarez advanced to the semifinals by defeating Ezequiel Martinez (Santiago) 5-0, in the 65 kg. Dom-B managed to advance to the semifinals, in that program, against Carlos Daniel (55 kg), who defeated Colcha Steven (ECU) by RSC in the second round. Wilmer Valerio (80 kg), from Santiago B, prevailed over Charles Cox (Barbados), securing his place in the next round. The traditional sporting event brings together boxers from eight nations. It is organized by the Santiago Boxing Association, directed by Miguel Martinez, with the endorsement of the Dominican Boxing Federation (Fedoboxa), chaired by Ruben Garcia. Sports journalist Pappy Perez is the director of the event. Martinez pondered the great support that the 45th National Independence Boxing Cup is receiving from the fans of that city.
