The announcement was made on the main stage of the celebration of the 18th title of the King's Series, where he invited Santiago Harp, vice president of the Board of Directors of the Diablos Rojos, to join him in an emotional moment in front of the Scarlet Nation.

"I want to thank you for everything you have done for me over the years. This person who is here has given me their love, their affection, their friendship, whom I consider a brother. And I think he doesn't deserve this: I will return one more," expressed Cano before the crowd.

With this decision, the second baseman originally from San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic, will seek to lead the Diablos towards a historic achievement in the Mexican Baseball League (LMB). So far, only the Sultanes de Monterrey have achieved three consecutive titles, in 1947, 1948 and 1949.

Legacy and commitment

Since his arrival in the ninth capital, Robinson Canó has been a fundamental piece in the club's recent successes. In 2024 he was named Most Valuable Player of the season, guiding the Diablos to the title against the Sultanes. In 2025 he was again decisive in the final against the Charros de Jalisco, contributing his experience and leadership on and off the field. His Major League career backs up his hierarchy: he debuted in 2005 with the New York Yankees and accumulated eight All-Star Games, five Silver Bats, two Gold Gloves, and a World Series championship in 2009.

On the way to the three-peat

With the continuity of Robinson Canó, the Diablos Rojos del México face the 2026 season with the confidence of maintaining the winning streak and writing a new page in the history of Mexican baseball.
