The Indians strike first in the LNB Super League semifinal A

SANTIAGO. – With a superb performance by Juan Miguel Suero in his debut and the offensive support of Eddy Polanco, the Indios de San Francisco de Macorís defeated the Metros de Santiago 84-77 in the first game of the semifinal A series of La Súper Liga de la LNB, held on Sunday night at the Gran Arena del Cibao Dr. Oscar Gobaira. Suero was the offensive engine for the Indians, leading with 26 points and eight rebounds, while Polanco added 21 points in a match marked by intensity and changes of pace. With this victory, the Indians take a 1-0 lead in the series, agreed to the best of five games.

By the Metros, who dominated the first quarter 30-21 thanks to a strong start, Juan Guerrero led the offense with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Jhery Matos also stood out with 16 points, Henry Sims with 15 and Víctor Liz, in his return, with 10 units.

Reaction and timely adjustments

After an unfavorable start, the Indians adjusted their 2-1-2 zone defense and responded with a 12-3 run at the beginning of the second quarter that tied the game 33-33. From then on, the duel became even until the visitors went to halftime with a 49-44 lead, after dominating the second quarter 28-14.

In the third quarter, the Francomacorisanos limited the Metros to only two points in the first five minutes, taking a 10-point lead (56-46). Although the home team reacted with an 8-0 run, the Indios maintained control of the game.

The LNB Super League will continue this Tuesday with the second game of the B semifinal, when the Titanes del Sur visit the Leones de Santo Domingo at the Virgilio Travieso Soto Sports Palace, starting at 8:00 p.m.
