Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) reported that the east wind continues to be the main factor influencing the weather conditions over the country, causing weak and scattered rains from the early hours of the day in several provinces, especially in the northeast and inland areas.
According to the report, isolated rainfall has been recorded during the morning in Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, El Seibo, Samaná and La Altagracia, while in the afternoon the rains could become moderate in some areas, extending towards San Pedro de Macorís, San Cristóbal, San José de Ocoa, Sánchez Ramírez, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Santiago and Gran Santo Domingo. For the night, a gradual decrease in rainfall is expected, with only isolated showers remaining in coastal sectors of the Atlantic. You may be interested in: Scattered showers for this Thursday, according to Indomet
Indomet indicated that for this Thursday, the east wind will again generate scattered showers in the morning hours over provinces of the northeast and the Cibao Valley, such as María Trinidad Sánchez, Duarte, Hermanas Mirabal and Samaná. In the afternoon, the precipitation could intensify occasionally due to the effects of the diurnal cycle, affecting localities in the east, southeast, the Central Mountain Range and Greater Santo Domingo, with incidence until the early hours of the night. Regarding temperatures, the agency noted that they will remain pleasant and cool during the night and early morning, especially in mountainous areas and inland valleys, with possible fogs and mists typical of the season. The minimum temperatures will range between 20 °C and 22 °C, while the maximums will be between 29 °C and 31 °C. Regarding maritime conditions, Indomet recommended that operators of fragile, small, and medium-sized vessels remain in port on the Atlantic coast, from Cabo Engaño to Cabo Francés Viejo, and on the Caribbean coast, from Paraíso to Isla Beata, due to moderate winds, occasional gusts, and dangerous waves. On the rest of the coastline, it is advised to navigate with caution without venturing out to sea. For Friday, the report predicts an increase in humidity, which will favor a slight increase in the intensity of the rains. Weak rainfall is expected in the morning in the northeast and the Cibao Valley, and moderate to heavy showers in isolated points during the afternoon towards the southeast and the Central Mountain Range, extending until the early hours of the night. In the National District and Greater Santo Domingo, cloud cover increases are forecast with scattered showers, mainly in the afternoon hours.
