Santo Domingo.– The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) reported that this Wednesday 903 foreigners in irregular migratory condition were deported and 1,076 were detained during interdiction operations carried out in different provinces of the country.
According to the report, of those arrested, 831 were apprehended directly by agents of the institution, while 245 were handed over by state security and defense agencies.
Among these entities, the Dominican Republic Army delivered 158 people, the Air Force 23, and the National Police another 64.
The DGM indicated that the 903 deported foreigners were sent to Haiti through the various enabled border posts.
In detail, 387 people left through Elías Piña, 221 through Dajabón, 211 through Jimaní, and 84 through Pedernales.
The institution explained that the operations were carried out from dawn in different parts of the country, with a significant part of the arrests concentrated in Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal and Monte Plata, with a total of 185 cases.
In Greater Santo Domingo, the interventions covered sectors of the National District, Santo Domingo North and East, including Cristo Rey, Manoguayabo, Villa Mella and Los Minas.
Detentions were also reported in Pedernales (68), Azua, Peravia and San José de Ocoa (66), as well as in La Altagracia, La Romana and San Pedro de Macorís (58).
In Independencia, 54 arrests were recorded in Viejo Jimaní, while in Samaná and María Trinidad Sánchez there were 52. In Santiago there were 47 arrests, in Puerto Plata 41, in Dajabón 40 and in Monte Cristi another 40.
The General Directorate of Migration reiterated that these operations are part of the permanent actions for migration control and compliance with current regulations in the Dominican Republic.
