Indotel approves purchase of Gold Data Dominicana by Liberty Networks

Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (INDOTEL) approved the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Gold Data Dominicana, S.A. by Liberty Networks, an operation that, according to the regulator, reinforces confidence in the legal security of the country and strengthens the telecommunications sector. With this authorization, both companies are enabled to move forward with the transaction closing processes, the completion of which will be communicated later in accordance with their internal agreements. The decision was announced during a press conference led by the president of the Indotel Board of Directors, Guido Gómez Mazara, and representatives of Liberty Latin America, where the benefits of the operation for connectivity, network resilience, and market competitiveness were highlighted.

Gómez Mazara noted that this approval sends a positive signal to international investors about the stability of the Dominican regulatory framework, while boosting new investments in digital infrastructure. He also indicated that Indotel will maintain active supervision of the process to ensure that the transaction translates into greater competition, efficiency, and improvements for service users. On their part, representatives of Liberty Networks stated that the acquisition of Gold Data Dominicana is part of their expansion strategy in the region and reflects confidence in the potential of the Dominican Republic as a digital hub of the Caribbean.
