Hipólito Mejía on Carolina's candidacy: "We are going to beat up anyone who gets in the way"

Santiago. – The former president of the Republic, Hipólito Mejía, declared this weekend that he will firmly confront any internal competitor who obstructs the presidential candidacy of his daughter, Carolina Mejía, within the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), in the run-up to the 2028 elections.

During a political activity in Santiago, Mejía assured that his daughter has all the necessary conditions to assume the Presidency of the Republic, calling her an honest woman, with managerial capacity and a distinctive political charisma.

"We are doing well, very well, at a winner's pace," he expressed when referring to Carolina's progress within the PRM. The former president affirmed that Carolina represents Dominican women with dignity and stated that "we are going to give it to anyone who gets in the way," in reference to the other presidential candidates within the ruling party. Likewise, Mejía predicted that Carolina Mejía will not only defeat her internal competitors, but will become the "first president of Santiago", in a probable geographical error, possibly alluding to the national presidency.
