Santo Domingo.– The
National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) destroyed this Thursday more than
960 kilograms of different types of drugs seized in recent operations carried out by the
Public Ministry and the
National Directorate for Drug Control.
According to the weekly report issued by Inacif, exactly 960 kilograms, 244 grams, and 571 milligrams of narcotic substances were destroyed, bringing the total amount eliminated so far in the year 2026 to 19 thousand 195 kilograms and 403 grams.
Among the destroyed drugs are
591 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride,
348 kilograms of marijuana and more than 16 kilograms of crack.
Also, the authorities incinerated smaller quantities of other substances, including phendimetrazine, methamphetamine, ecstasy, hashish, and amphetamine.
The report also states that 547 kilograms of uncontrolled substances were destroyed, corresponding to negative cases analyzed by the forensic authorities.
The total weight of the positive and negative substances destroyed reached 1,507 kilograms, 549 grams, and 896 milligrams, linked to 2,318 processed cases.
The destruction of the narcotics was carried out at the facilities of Military Camp 16 de Agosto, headquarters of the General Command of the Dominican Republic Army, located in the municipality of Pedro Brand, Santo Domingo province.
The process is carried out every Thursday in compliance with Law 50-88 on Drugs and Controlled Substances and Organic Law of the Public Ministry No. 133-11.
In the activity, representatives from different institutions of the justice system and state security agencies participate.
