Santo Domingo. – The National Institute of Transit and Terrestrial Transportation (Intrant) informed the implementation of special measures for the regulation of traffic of cargo vehicles nationwide, on the occasion of the 2026 Holy Week holiday, with the objective of preserving road safety and reducing risks on the country's roads.
The provision prohibits the circulation of cargo vehicles throughout the national territory, including those with permits from the Restricted Access Zone (ZAR), from Thursday, April 2nd at 6:00 a.m. until Monday, April 6th at 5:00 a.m., in accordance with Administrative Resolution No. 005-2026.
The Intrant explained that, exceptionally, special permits will be granted for the transport of priority or perishable goods, such as fuels, bottled water, food, medicines, medical equipment, hospital waste, among other essential goods for the population.
Furthermore, the institution specified that special loads will not be authorized, including double-trailer trucks, oversized or overweight loads, in order to guarantee safer mobility during the period.
