La Leche League invites to the closing of World Breastfeeding Week

Santo Domingo.- La Liga de La Leche República Dominicana (LLLRD) invites pregnant and breastfeeding mothers to participate this Saturday, August 9, in Galería 360, in a support group with free advice from leaders in breastfeeding.

This activity marks the closing of World Breastfeeding Week 2025, which LLLRD celebrated with great success under the slogan “Prioritizing breastfeeding; building sustainable support systems”. Throughout the week, through free activities, the entity managed to attract the attention of families, government entities, companies, breastfeeding promoters and health professionals, highlighting the key role of the entire society in promoting breastfeeding.

The inaugural event, held on Saturday, August 2nd in the central lobby of Galería 360, included a discussion with pediatrician Jimmy Michel Alcántara and international lactation consultant Macy Ho, along with testimonials and talks from LLLRD leaders. The celebration continued on Wednesday, August 6th with a discussion in Iberoamerican Park, organized by the Santo Domingo City Hall, the BHD bank and LLLRD, entitled “Breastfeeding, a gift for life”, where the leader of LLLRD Inés Páez highlighted the long-term benefits of breastfeeding for the mother, the child, society, the government and the environment. On her side, the president of the La Leche League Dominican Republic, Michelle Marques, invites the entire community not to miss the meeting on Saturday 9th at 10:30, in the Food Court of Galería 360, a space designed for the whole family and the close environment that supports breastfeeding.
World Breastfeeding Week has been celebrated since 1991 by the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, and in collaboration with the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA).
