Pastor threatens Edeeste brigade members after detecting recidivism with illegal connection in Higüey

Higüey, La Altagracia. – In a video circulating on social media, Mr. José Agustín Martínez, who poses as a pastor and who allegedly directs the Hospedero de Jesucristo Foundation, can be seen threatening with a rock at the brigadistas of the Empresa Distribuidora de Electricidad del Este (Edeeste) after the recurrence of an illegal connection in said center was detected. The material shows Pastor José Agustín Martínez with a person on an electric staircase executing the irregular connection again to benefit the space dedicated to the supposed rehabilitation of addicts located in the Anamelia Residential, municipality of Higüey. The short video allows to appreciate how the individual holds a rock with an intimidating attitude in front of the technicians of the distribution company. This action by Martinez is carried out after Edeeste brigades dismantled this type of fraud in the place for the third time. It should be noted that this foundation has been reluctant to regularize the electrical service through a contract and the installation of a meter, despite the multiple interventions carried out by Edeeste.

Edeeste takes this opportunity to condemn this type of action by the alleged pastor and warns that it will initiate the legal proceedings mandated by the General Electricity Law 125-01 to obtain the relevant sanctions. In that sense, the distribution company reiterated its commitment to continue combating electricity fraud regardless of the social, business, and economic levels in which these violations are taking place, and asked the population to report these acts anonymously through institutional channels.
