Haina.– The construction of the pedestrian and motorized bridge over the 6 de Noviembre highway, in the community of Quita Sueño, is advancing significantly, after years of fatal accidents and constant claims from residents of the area.
The work, executed by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), seeks to guarantee a safe crossing for pedestrians and motorcyclists in one of the most transited and dangerous sections of Haina, where hundreds of vehicles circulate daily at high speed.
The start and progress of the works occurs after protests, marches, and public denunciations, motivated by the death of dozens of people at that intersection.
Community members claim that more than 30 citizens have lost their lives in recent years while trying to cross the highway, including a 17-year-old teenager and a man who recently passed away.
