Petro backs Dua Lipa after fan gatherings outside her hotel in Bogotá

Bogotá.- The Colombian president, Gustavo Petro, expressed this Friday his support for the British singer Dua Lipa, who will perform tonight at the El Campín stadium in Bogotá, after videos showing crowds of fans outside the hotel where she is staying circulated on social media. "Dua Lipa is a cutting-edge and progressive singer who deserves the greatest respect from Colombians. Any help needed for her peace of mind, we will be willing," the president wrote on X. The comment comes amid the concern expressed by a group of the artist's fans, who denounced in a statement behaviors they described as "harassment" during the last few hours. In social media videos, dozens of people are seen trying to approach the singer and her fiancé, actor Callum Turner, who have been sightseeing in the Colombian capital for two days on the occasion of her concert.

Dua Lipa Would Feel (Scared)

The fan club assured that Dua Lipa "feels pressured, pursued and scared", after some fans stayed until midnight on Thursday in front of the hotel, some with speakers and megaphones. The artist, with over 48 million streams on the music platform Spotify, is immersed in the Latin America phase of her world tour for her third album, 'Radical Optimist', which reached number one in twelve countries and became the most successful debut by a British artist last year. The British artist has won the affection of the Spanish-speaking public by incorporating one or two emblematic songs from the country she visits into each concert of this tour. In Chile she performed 'Tu falta de querer' and 'El duelo'; in Argentina, 'De música ligera' and 'Tu misterioso alguien'; and in Peru she surprised with the cumbia 'Cariñito'.
