The Embassy of the United States in Santo Domingo reported that the Department of State decided to temporarily postpone the entry into force of the new guideline that requires in-person interviews for applicants who qualify for the waiver of this requirement.
According to Michelle Angulo, spokesperson for the diplomatic mission, the measure responds to the fact that they are still in the process of finalizing the operational details necessary to apply the provision.
"This is because the operational details are being finalized," the official noted in a statement published on the embassy's official social media channels.

The directive, announced weeks ago, stated that even those who met the criteria for an interview waiver had to appear in person at the consulate, which caused concern among visa applicants.
With this decision, the Embassy specified that the current process remains in effect until the definitive date for the implementation of the new regulations is officialized.
