Valdez (1-0) once again demonstrated his hierarchy from the mound, adding his 28th victory with the blue jersey, a figure that puts him tied with Juan Jiménez, Arturo Peña and Mario Soto in the historical list of circuit wins. The veteran right-hander did not give up walks and struck out one batter during his presentation. The Bengal offense took an early lead when Stevenson hit a solo home run in the second inning against opposing starter Wily Peralta (0-1), who took the loss after pitching four innings, allowing one run, with three walks and four strikeouts. Licey extended their lead in the seventh inning with RBI triples from Sergio Alcántara and Michael De La Cruz, who drove in the two additional runs that made the difference in the game. The Giants tried to react with a solo home run and a double by Pablo Reyes, in addition to offensive contributions from Julio Carreras, Deyvison De Los Santos and Johan Rojas, but it was not enough. The blue bullpen held the lead with innings from Luis Frías (6th), Wander Suero (7th) and Misael Tamarez (8th), before Jeasn Carlos Mejía completed a flawless ninth inning to secure his fourth save of the campaign. With the triumph, the Tigers place their record at 9-11, while the Giants fall to the basement with a record of 7-12. For the Tigers, in addition to Stevenson's home run, Alcántara and De La Cruz hit productive triples and Gustavo Núñez contributed a single.
