DATE 2025 reaffirms Dominican Republic's leadership as a world-class tourist destination

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. – The Association of Hotels and Tourism of Asonahores concluded its twenty-fifth edition of the Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange, DATE, consolidating itself as a key platform for the strengthening of tourism in the Dominican Republic, a sector that continues to be the transversal axis of the national economy.

In this edition, more than 8,300 business appointments were made through the official platform, in addition to numerous informal meetings, with the participation of 280 tour operator and buyer companies, 330 buyer delegates (a number that may increase according to the records during the event), and 123 stands. Likewise, 28 representatives of Dominican crafts exhibited local products, promoting native art and culture.

The president of Asonahores, Juan Bancalari, stated that, “This DATE 2025 marks a chapter of success for Dominican tourism. This event has reaffirmed the Dominican Republic's leadership as the main destination in the Caribbean and has served as a platform to strengthen key commercial relationships. We thank all participants for their trust in our country and reiterate Asonahores' commitment to continue promoting the sustainable growth of the sector.”

Aguie Lendor, Executive Vice President of Asonahores, highlighted that “tourism is today the main engine of economic development in the country, thanks to the daily effort of thousands of men and women who with their work generate confidence and attract constant foreign investment”.

“We are taking advantage of this great moment that the Dominican Republic is experiencing to diversify our tourism offer: from the traditional sun and beach to sports, religious or cultural tourism, with destinations such as Punta Cana, Samaná, La Romana-Bayahíbe, Puerto Plata, Juan Dolio, and new promises such as Miches and Pedernales,” said Lendor.

As part of the agenda, ASONAHORES and the Palladium Hotel Group offered a welcome cocktail for suppliers, buyers, sponsors, national and international press, and special guests, fostering networking within the sector.

One of the most outstanding moments was the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Grupo Piñero worldwide and its 30 years of operations in the country, a testament to the private sector's commitment to the growth of Dominican tourism.

The event concluded with a special night at Coco Bongo Punta Cana, one of the most emblematic attractions in the area, underscoring the importance of the complementary offerings to continue attracting tourists. In addition, the DATE Lounge offered tastings of local products such as rum and tobacco, highlighting the richness of the Dominican identity.

The Minister of Tourism emphasized that “DATE 2025 is not only a meeting point for the main players in the sector, but also a testament to the sustained growth of the Dominican Republic as a world-class tourist destination, with a clear commitment to innovation, quality and sustainability.”

The 2025 edition was supported by 37 sponsoring brands, consolidating DATE as the main tourism fair in the Caribbean and the region.
