They identify the two children who died after being struck by lightning in Batey Palavé

Santo Domingo.– Were identified as Jeris Charles, 13 years old, and Yendris Peña, 14, the two minors who died this Saturday after being struck by lightning in a baseball park in the Batey Palavé community, in the municipality of Santo Domingo Oeste.

The event occurred while the children were bathing in the rain, caused by a tropical wave affecting Greater Santo Domingo and nearby areas such as San Cristóbal and San Pedro de Macorís.

A third minor was injured and remains admitted to the Vinicio Calventi Hospital, in Los Alcarrizos. His identity has not been revealed by the authorities. A witness recounted that upon approaching the scene of the tragedy to provide assistance, they realized that two of the teenagers had died. The National Police indicated that it is investigating the case and will offer more detailed information in the coming hours.
