FENAPEPRO presents initial LIDOM proposal for new labor agreement

Santo Domingo.- The National Federation of Professional Baseball Players (FENAPEPRO) presented its members with the first proposal sent by the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), marking the beginning of negotiations for the new labor agreement that will replace the current one at the end of the 2025-2026 season. During its annual ordinary assembly, held with the attendance of nearly 50 players representing the six LIDOM teams, fundamental issues were addressed such as the future of free agency, the possible implementation of a salary arbitration system, the economic report of the last period, and new proposals to improve the conditions of the players. An update was also offered on the organization of the All-Star Game between the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico leagues, scheduled for November 15 at Citi Field in New York. In addition, possible agreements with Asian summer leagues and the creation of an annual fee for affiliates were discussed.

The president of FENAPEPRO, Erick Almonte, and the vice president, Esteban Germán, led the meeting, accompanied by at least eight representatives per team. "The players are the real leaders of FENAPEPRO and must be informed of everything that happens. We are stronger when we work together," Almonte expressed. Among the attendees were figures such as Junior Lake, Hanser Alberto, Juan Lagares, Enny Romero, César Valdez, and Ronald Guzmán, among others. A special moment was led by doña Haydée Benoit de García, widow of former president Dámaso García, who praised the institutional strengthening of FENAPEPRO and called for maintaining unity. "Damasito would be very proud of all of you," he expressed.
