Santo Domingo Este. – In an event that has generated alarm about security in the country's judicial precincts, Brayan Juan Pablo Rosa, 30 years old, was seriously injured after receiving five shots this Tuesday from two hooded men outside the Palace of Justice of Santo Domingo Este. The attack occurred around 1:50 p.m., during a recess of the court where Rosa serves as a witness in a case against an alleged Boca Chica kingpin, accused of directing criminal operations from prison. According to the preliminary report, Rosa was walking down a side street of the building when she was surprised by the attackers. Twenty-five minutes later, she was transferred to a medical center, where she remains under strict police surveillance to ensure her safety. Outside the health center, his mother, Belkis Rosa Franco, held the man known as “Guindo”, detained in New York and identified as the leader of the gang “Los Fantasmas”, a criminal structure operating in Boca Chica, responsible for the attack.

"¿How can things like this happen in a place of justice?", she questioned with anguish. The woman affirmed that members of that gang had been prowling around her home in previous days to intimidate her son. “How can a prisoner have a gang like that, that kills people?”, he expressed, reiterating his concern and pointing out that the men of “Guindo” had already issued threats. Until 8:30 at night, the family still did not have precise information about the health condition of the young man, father of two children, who had resided in the United States before being deported just over a year ago.

Criminal Profile of the Accused

In December 2024, "Guindo" was arrested in the Bronx, New York, during a joint operation involving the Dicrim, ERO, CBP, and the FBI. Authorities classified him as one of the three most wanted criminals in the country. The gang "Los Fantasmas" has been linked to crimes such as: kidnappings, contract killings, arms trafficking, drug thefts, and armed robberies. A police report indicates that in 2023 the group murdered Eduardo Castillo de los Santos. Regarding the attack against Brayan Rosa, the Police reported that they are pursuing Ángelo Omar Puello and Joel Andrés Samboy Regalado, alleged perpetrators.
